To be fair, it's derived from the Norinco Type CQ 5.56, a Chinese copy of the M16 that never saw military service. The KH2002 was designed to replace obsolete German HK-G3 rifles (which date back to what, 1959?!)

it does share similarities with the FAMAS, the carrying handle and the ****ing handle are both verry similar to the famas and the straight box clip is also similar, but the pistol grip is a throw back to the Steyr AUG. the iron sights also remind me of the M-16's trident sight
