The trailer for the new prequel is here. What do you think so far?
So far I'm not really impressed. It started off great, but the CGI and jumpy moments ruined a lot of it for me. Hey, at least they have a soundtrack just like in the John Carpenter film! I thought for sure they'd make the mistake of having a completely different film score.
Anyway, I'll put my annoying critcal rants aside until I actually see the movie, and throw you a link to the trailer:

Saw the R-rated version of the trailer. Not impressed.
All of the "things" are CG and look like spin-offs of the creatures from Dead Space, they basically Americanized a story that should've been only about the Norwegians (being a prequel, it's supposed to tell the story about what happened to the Norwegians when they found the ship and Thing before the events of the first movie), and they give away almost all of the characters that get infected in the trailer.
Only plus sides I see:
No horrendous shakey-cam, and the cover art looks close to the original.
My interest in seeing this mess is really dissolving the more I learn about it.

The John Carpenter film was quite a shocker when I first saw it at age 12. It gave me nightmares for such a long time. Now I love it. I think it's the most impressive horror movie ever made, to date. The effects are top-notch and never fail to impress me each time. The dog thing still makes me cringe.
