Plasma technology is extremely hard to scientists but that has changed due to some research that big mass elements [uranium. titanium. anything of the sort] can be hit with the same element into its nucleus at a speed of 4kmph+ and make a plasma explosion. now have multiple around eachother like alloys compounds make a bigger spark and more energy is needed to propel and that excess energy is plasma :O and the people in swedan can't think of that after making that centrofuge xD

Plasma weapons are a popular sci-fi tech that is extremely difficult to perfect in the real world. I'm no expert on that matter, but I do know that you would need a strong (not to mention really large) power supply, the smallest being far to large to carry, unless transported on some kind of mobile platform. Another problem is that plasma has less mass and would be less dense than a conventional round, making it susceptible to drag at high speeds.

Unless you strech it to a thinner projectile and you would get less air friction. Except the the round would be less powerful, and therefore you'd think of making the round more dense. But this is also a problem, at such a high speed it would fly apart from drag.
Actually the power supply of a railgun compared to Plasma is massive and takes about 10,000 D batteries to compare to about 67% of the amount of power a railgun up in the AFB close to here

the main guess is that plasma based weapons of any sort would also become extremely hot with sustained fire, due to the energy needed to expell the round and the heat of the plasma explosion
