ADATS wasn't used as the proposal's actual designation. It's pretty much what it sounds like, a version of ADATS for the AH-64. It was proposed by Rheinmetall I think.
pretty much what Anthony said. BTW it was an Oerlikon proposal (1983?) before they were a division of Rheinmetall. IIRC it fell through when the US Army determined that ADATS performed poorly in bad weather and eventually cancelled the FAAD contract. it was envisioned as a general airborne system, not just for the Apache.
