Curtiss-Wright's submission to an Air Force competition for an amphibious Arctic rescue helicopter, also proposed for possible commercial use. The prototype was to be based on the Doman LZ-2 with dynamically-balanced rotor system, powered by a 400hp Lycoming SO-580 supercharged engine - a second prototype was planned to be a twin-engine configuration.
