Can someone please give me as much information on this bird as possible? It looks to be a one-off hybrid between an AS350 and an EC130  and I would like to know all about it including if it ever flew and it's purpose. Thank you so much. Kindest regards,Jeremy

It's called the AS.350Z (AKA AS.531) and was basically a testbed for the fenestron and later for the Turbomeca Arriel 1D1 engine of the AS.350B2. It currently sits on display at the Eurocopter/Airbus Helicopters gate at Marseille, France.

Wow Leela, that's amazing, was it considered for production ever? I am a Bell 222/230 guy but this doesn't look half bad.

The Ecureuil/A-star series seems to be a fitting candidate for the Fenestron considering its dimensions and weight class. Though likely a just testbed for future product, I also wonder why the type wasn't pursued.

Sort of an expensive waste considering the rise of better birds utilizing the config IMO :P
