Designations of US Army types

Here are a few scans from the U.S. Army Aviation Digest which I thought might be of interest to this forum's members. One of them sheds some light on when Indian tribe names were adopted, while another one indicates when exactly the tri-service system came into being.

  • Indian names for Army Aircraft (July 1957)
  • proposed aerial vehicles in US Army armor units (1961)
  • The objectives of Army Aviation (1962)
  • New designations for Army aircraft (November 1962)
  • Army types (1959)
  • Army profiles (1962)
  • Army Aviation (1961)
  • Helo carrier
  • Tactical aviation support vehicle

Its too bad Stargazer no longer comes here. Now that we can host bigger pics I would love to see higher res versions of these.

Funny how HU-1 is now UH-1 as the HU is for amphibious airplanes...... UH-1 Albatross
